• Adapting or ensuring the development of basic training in ELT.
FACTOR III: LEARNERS’ AGE

• Older learners.
FACTOR III: LEARNERS’ LEVEL

• Trained scientist or technocrat able to operate within his field


FACTOR III: LEARNERS’ MOTIVATION

• Instrumental motivation:
• Level 1: English is required to obtain degree or desirable job or to get promotion
• Level 3: English could increase the students’ status, be useful if they went abroad, or
widen their and interests

• Integrative motivation: based on the students’ subject specialism


FACTOR III: LEARNERS’ ATTITUDE TO LEARNING

• Influenced by the students’ previous learning of English.

• Require needs assessment
