HISTORY OF SAE :

 In the early 1900s there were dozens of automobile manufactures in the united
states and many more worldwide.
 Auto manufactures and parts companies joined trade groups that promoted
business.
 A desire to solve common technical design problems and develop engineering
standard was emerging.
 Engineers in the automobile business expressed a desire have “free exchange of
ideas” to expand the technical knowledge base.
TECHNICAL STANDARDS OF SAE
HORSEPOWER RATINGS:
 SAE has long provided standards for rating automobile horsepower. Until
1971-1972 SAE gross power was used.
 Similar to brake horsepower.it have generously unrealistic performance ratings.
 SAE net power ,which takes into account engine accessory emissions and exhaust
drags is the standard.

AEROSPACE INDUSTRY STANDARDS:


 SAE publishes technical documents for the aerospace industries.
 Aerospace recommended practices recommendation for engineering practice.

 Member Grade : For Engineering Graduates with 5 Years Professional Experience

 Associate Grade : For Engineering Graduates without Professional experience

 Affiliate Grade : For Budding Engineering Students who supports Objectives of SAE
MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBLITY:
Applicants must be students leading in any bachelor, masters, or
doctoral in engineering technology.

FEES STRUCTURE :
 First year student can pay the membership fee as Rs.1600+315
(18% GST) for all 4 years.
 Rs.500 per year for transfer of membership to associate membership
 Student can also join the 4+1 scheme enrol themselves till a year
after the passing out year

 Indian welding society is a professional body devoted to welding in India.


 IWS is registered on 14th march 2002 under the society act with its head
quarters at New Delhi
 IWS is promoted by welding professionals from leading fabrications
Industries, Academic and Research Institutes and progressive minded
welding consumable and equipment manufactures.
 IWS has membership of 3600.IWS is a founder member of Asian Welding
Federation(AWS)
WHY SHOULD I JOIN IWS ?

 To promote the advancement of Welding, Cutting, Reclamation, Hard Facing and related technologies and
other allied sciences which the Society may decide from time to time.
 To facilitate exchange of ideas, information, development work etc. amongst members; by organizing
lectures, workshops, seminars, symposia, conferences and development programs; publish periodicals,
books, journals, and magazines; and develop software and educational programs, video films and training
packages relating to the objectives of the Society.
 To offer flexible class room/distance learning programs in various aspects of welding & related technology
that suit the requirement of various levels.
 To promote professional exchange of information, experience and advanced training within and among
various countries across the globe.

 The idea of formation of an indian institute for metallurgists was conceived as


early as in 1945.This was possible by the efforts of a few metallurgists ,who
realized the need for an adequate body for professional in India
 The 1st organizational meeting was held on 24th Feb 1946 at Kolkata.Since then
the growth of institute as been phenomenal.
 Starting with a modest membership of 42,the IIM membership now stands more
than 10000 drawn from various field of metallurgical activity.
 Membership requirements are rigid to maintain the highest professional
standards.The institute has grown into a reputed institution devorted to promotion
and advancement in the study,practice and research of metallurgical science and
technology.

THE INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERING

 The Institution of Engineers(India)[IEI] is a statutory body to promote and


advance the engineering and technology ,established in 1920 and incorporated by
Royal charter in 1935.
 It is the largest multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers encompassing
15(fifteen) engineering disciplines with a membership of more than 820 thousand
,and serving the nation for more then 9 decades.
 The IEI has its headquarters located in Kolkata with national presence through
more than hundred centres and several overseas chapters , Foras and organ.
