MEANING
 E-commerce (electronic commerce or EC) is the buying and
selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or
data, over an electronic network, primarily the internet.
 These business transactions occur either as business-to-
business, business-to-consumer, consumer-to-consumer or
consumer-to-business.
 Example-
I) Mr. A have purchases a book on the internet.
II) A employee reserves a hotel room over internet.
III)An individual withdraws funds from an automatic
teller machine(ATM).
MODELS
E-commerce Business Models-
 Market creator - This business model provides a
digital environment where the buyers and seller can
meet and communicate with each other, search for
products, and established prices for these products. For
e.g. – OLX.com.
 Content provider - Its creates revenue by providing
digital content, such as news, photos, music, video etc.
For e.g.- Wynk.com, pagalworld.com.
 Community provider - It provides a online meeting
space where people with similar interest can communicate
and share useful information. For e.g. – Facebook, hike,
twitter, Instagram.

 Service provider - While E-tailers sell products


online, services providers offer services online. It provides
application photo and video sharing and also gives online
data storage and backup. For e.g.- G-mail, WhatsApp etc.
E-commerce Revenue Models –
 Advertising Revenue Model – In this model a websites
generate revenue by attracting a larger number of
visitor who can then be exposed to advertisement. For
e.g.- Facebook, google etc.

 Sales Revenue Model – Here, the companies derive


revenue by selling product services and information to
customer. For e.g.- Flirt kart, amazon etc.
 Subscription Revenue Model – In this model, a
website offering benefits and services charges a
subscription fees for excess to some or all of its offering
on a ongoing basic. For e.g.- Amazon prime etc.

 Freemium Revenue Model – Here, firms offer basic


services or content for free, while charging a freemium
for specific and basic features. For e.g.- hot star etc.
CONCLUSION
E-commerce saves times and makes our day to
day life easier.
