of tubes Completed. The following were the Conclusion & Recommendation for the same: Conclusion: Stagnant LP Steam Condensate or the stagnant cooling water of Hydrotest is suspected to be the cause of formation of pits resulting in Pinhole. This is a type of under deposit corrosion due to stagnant condensate resulting in oxygen pitting and it has resulted in carbonic acid corrosion in one of the tubes indicated by channeling effect at 6 o clock position. HIGHLIGHTS
Recommendation: 1. Flow of LP steam shall be maintained in
all the tubes to ensure that all condensate is drained properly. 2. After major shutdown proper operational procedure such as Nitrogen Purging shall be followed to prevent stagnation of water and to keep the Tubes free from water corrosion.
3. CBD Line: Stage-wise Inspection for the Fabrication &
Erection of Section-2 of CBD header alonwith connecting lines is under progress. Loop2 & 3 Mechanical piping & Wrapping coating jobs completed. Hydrotest carried out at 20 Kg/cm2 and was found satisfactory. 4.Thermography: Thermography of of CDU Heater (11-FF-00-101) and VDU Heater (12-FF-00-101) Thermography was carried out for CDU and VDU heaters: At few locations specially at the Corner and Arch section of Heater casing outside temperature was found slightly on higher side. Max. Temp. summary:
Sr. No. Location Max. Temp (°C)
1 CDU Heater first floor, west cabin, south Side 268.5
CDU Heater Third Floor, Arch section at Corners 228
2 VDU Heater Second Floor, west cabin, north side at corner 180
4 VDU Heater Third Floor, Arch Section 213
