Medium/long range forecasts deal with
more comprehensive issues and support
management decisions regarding
planning and products, plants and

Short-term forecasting usually employs
different methodologies than longer-term

Seasonal Variations In Data
The multiplicative seasonal model can
modify trend data to accommodate

1. Find average historical demand for each season


2. Compute the average demand over all seasons
3. Compute a seasonal index for each season
