Education: Hashima Island
• This is a website designed using google street view images taken of the long
abandoned Hashima island in Nagasaki, Japan. It allows users to “explore” the
island, whilst giving information about different areas. It’s purpose is to inform
and educate people about Hashima Island and it’s history, while also creating an
immersive eerie atmosphere to make using the website entertaining and to
match the tone of the subject matter.

• While this interactive exploration of the island can also be done in google street
view, I personally prefer the Hashima Island: Forgotten World website
(http://www.hashima-island.co.uk/#) as it is more of an immersive experience,
providing information on the island as you explore which is educational, and
using filters and darker colours to create a creepy, immersive atmosphere, which
is more entertaining
