• Mrs. Gomathy Moorthy arrived in Bombay
around 37 years ago.

• Mrs. Gomathy Moorthy could make and


pack idlis in the year 1988.
BUSINESS PLAN
• Sold the packets @ Rs. 3/-

• At that time, boiled rice costed @ Rs. 3/- per


kilo, urad dal @ Rs. 7/- per kilo & coconut
@ Rs. 1/- only.

• Packing of 200 packets a day from their 200


sq. feet house.
BUSINESS BOOM
• Began to make 1000 idlis per day.

• Invested amount into buying machinery and


moved to bigger place.

• Earned Rs. 20lakhs in 2 years.


COMPETITORS
• Jain & Iyer a large retailer magnet who has
a big hypermart.

• The hypermart began to churn 400kgs of


batter per day.
Thus the batter business seems to be
booming and fitting neatly into the changing
lifestyles of consumers and the capacities of
those who produce it.
