Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students should be


able to:
 determine the rules on the three degrees
of comparison of modifiers according to
syllables;
 identify the degrees of comparison used in
the sentence; and
 complete the sentence with the
appropriate degrees of comparison of the
adjectives.
What is an adjective?
aword used to describe a
noun or pronoun or to give it
a more specific meaning.
Example:

1. She is a pretty girl.

2. The table is round.


-itis the base word. It does
not compare a person, thing
or quality as having different
degree of a characteristic,it
is the plain form of the
adjective.
Examples:
1. Pedro is a handsome boy.

2. The man who teaches us


is intelligent.
- it is used in comparing two
persons or things. It denotes a
higher or lower degree of
quality than the positive. It is
expressed by using the
comparative forms with “than”
Examples:
1. Pedro is more handsome than
Juan.

2. The boy is not taller than the


girl.
-it is used in comparing
more than two persons
or things. It is used to
denote the highest or
lowest degree.
Examples:
1. Pedro is the most handsome
among them all.
2. Marina is the loveliest of all the
girls in the town.
