 Depression (major depressive disorder) is a

common and serious medical illness that


negatively affects how you feel, the way you
think and how you act. Causes feelings of
sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities
once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of
emotional and physical problems and can
decrease a person’s ability to function at work
and at home.

 46 years PTA, patient experienced depression
and anger because he found out that her father
had mistress, recur when she was in 2nd year
college and when she and her boyfriend broke
up. She admitted she had difficulty of sleeping,
poor concentration. Patient also stated of
feeling sad, change in appetite, difficulty in
decisions making, loss of interest in activities
and having a depressed mood. But she never
thought of suicidal ideation hence prompted to
consult. Persistence of sign and symptoms and
was admitted at TAHANAN NATIN for 8 years.
 Patient is currently admitted at tahanan
natin. Patient sometimes had mood swing
and feeling exhuasted, low energy, feeling
guilty, loss of pleasure and interest in usual
activities, hallucination is present and patient
also stated that there are cockroaches
crawling on her legs while taking a bath and
continue ordered medication.

 Patient was college graduate of BS-
accountancy. She was the 2nd child of 3
siblings. Patient hobbies are reading and
writing poems.
 Patient is awake, alert, coherent, aware to
place,date and time not in cardiorespiratory
distress.

 Fluoxetine
 Escitalopram
 Mood stabilizers such as:
 Lithium carbonate
 Carbamazepine

Talk therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy
