Panel Discussion is a situation in

which a group of people or


experts are gathered together to
discuss an issue, often to provide
feedback on something, to
brainstorm solutions to a problem
or to discuss an issue of public
concern usually either in the
presence of an audience or in a
broadcast.
There are types of
members in a panel
discussion.
Instructor or
moderator,
panelist or experts
and audience.
Moderator keeps the
discussion on the theme and
encourages interaction
among members.
Summarizes and highlights
the point. Should have
mastery on the theme or
problem of the discussion.
The moderator introduce the
topic as well.
Experts present their
views and opinions
regarding the topic or
talk for a set of time
(2mins). The experts
will be asked series of
questions by the other
panel of experts.
Audience are allowed to
put question and seek
clarification. They can
present their point of
view and their
experience regarding
the theme.
In panel discussion, the moderator
should be a matured person and
should have a full understanding
of theme problem and should have
full control over the situation. The
seating arrangement should be
equal distance and observe each
other. Moderator encourages
constructive discussion among
panelist and audience.
The purpose of the
panel discussion is to
collect opinions, ask
questions, clarify
ideas, and indicate
commitments.
