Adjectives-

are words that describe or modify another


person or thing in the sentence.

Examples are
: one, beautiful, small, circle, old, red, American,
golden and so on.
The 3 Different Degrees of Adjectives:

~Positive
~Comparative
~Superlative
1 Positive adjective- is a normal adjective that’s used to describe, not compare.
For example:
“This is good soup” and “I am funny.”

2 Comparative adjective- is an adjective that’s used to compare two things often


followed by the word . For example:
“This soup is better than that salad” or
“I am funnier than her.”

3 Superlative adjective- is an adjective that’s


used to compare three or more things, or to
state that something is the most.

For example:
“This is the best soup in the whole world” or
“I am the funniest student in our class.”
What if I have too many adjectives in a sentence?
When a number of adjectives are used together, the order depends on the function of the adjective.
The usual order is:
Number, quality/opinion, size, shape, age, color, origin, material, and qualifier
Homework:
Make 5 sentences and underline the adjectives in it
then make a chart about the order of adjectives
and write the adjectives you have in your 5 sentences.
