SEX- is a label- male or female- that you’re assigned by a

doctor at birth based on genitals you’re born with and the


chromosomes you have.

 GENDER- is a socially constructed definition of women and


men. It is not the same as sex (biological characteristics of
women and men) and it is not the same as women. Gender is
determined by the conception of tasks, functions and roles
attributed to women and men in society and in public and
private life.

Gender Identity- is one of one’s innermost
concept of self as male, female, a blend of both
or neither- how individuals perceive
themselves and what they call themselves.

Sexual Orientation- is an inherent or


immutable enduring emotional, romantic or
sexual attraction to some other people.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases- are infections
that are passed from one person to another during vaginal,
anal, and oral sex. They’re really common, and lots of
people who have them don’t have any symptoms. STDs can
be dangerous, but the good news is that getting tested is no
big deal, and most STDs are easy to treat.
