/ai/ The glide begins at a point slightly behind the front open
position and moves in the direction of /i/ , the glide is much more
extensive than that of /ei/ ,the closing movement of the lower jaw
being obvious, the lips change from a neutral to a loosely spread
position.
/ɔi/ The tongue glide begins at a point between the back half/open
and open positions and moves in the direction of /i/ . the lips are
open rounded for the first element, changing to neutral for the
second.
Comparison with spanish
Spanish has there front-closing diphthongs) /ei,ai,oi/. There are ,however,some phonetic differences between the English and
the Spanish sounds.The Spanish sounds are articulated more tensely throughout,and the glide is noticeably shorer and slower
in English than in Spanish.it THE NATIVE sPANISH SPEAKERTRANSFERS HIS FRONT/CLOSING closing diphthongs into
English, his speech will not be unintelligible,but it will sound very foreign
