Juran’s Quality Trilogy
Joseph. M .Juran basic steps to quality
improvement
 The concept of quality trilogy is that
managing for quality consist of three basic
quality oriented processes:
1) Quality Planning
2) Quality Control
3) Quality Improvement
Juran’s Quality Trilogy

1) Quality Planning: Involves creating a process that will be able to

establish the goals of the organization. Once the process is
turned over to the operating forces, their responsibility is to run
the process at optimal effectiveness and take corrective action,
when the process or product does not confirm to established
specifications.

2) Quality Control: To establish and achieve standards. Gaining

conformance by preventing occurrence of defects.

3) Quality Improvement : Is the process for breaking through to

exceptional levels of performance. Quality improvement does not
happen on its own accord. It happens by purposeful action taken
by the upper management to introduce a new managerial
approach throughout the organization of quality improvement
process.
