The Deming Route To Quality
(Deming’s 14 points for management)
Create & Publish to all employees a statement of aims and purposes of the
company. Create consistency of purpose towards improvement of product and
service with an aim to become competitive, stay in business and provide jobs.
End the practice of awarding the business on the basis of price alone.
Improve constantly and without end the system of production and service, to
improve the quality and productivity and this constantly decreases cost.

by objective, instead learn and introduce methods for
improvement
Remove barriers to pride of workmanship
Encourage education and self-improvement for everyone

Top management must be convinced of the need for
quality improvement and must make its commitment
clear to the company
Management must form a team of department heads
to oversee quality improvement
Quality measurement systems appropriate to every
activity must be established to identify areas needing
improvement
The controller’s office should make an estimate of
cost of quality to identify areas where quality
improvement would be profitable
Quality awareness must be raised among employees
Corrective action on the identified problems
