Relationship between management and Labour.


ILO:Deals with either the relationships between the state and the
employers and the workers organizations or the relation between
the occupational organizations themselves.

Factors influencing IR
Institutional Factors: Government Policy, Labour Policy, Collective
Agreements, labour courts, ,community, caste, joint family, system of
beliefs, etc.
Economic Factors:Economic organization like, capitalist,Communist
Etc, the structure of labour force, and supply of labour force.
Technological Factors:Mechanisation, automation, computerisation ,
etc
Three Actors of IR
Workers & their Organization:Total worker plays a important
role in IR( Working age, educational background, family
background, social background, culture, skills attitude etc.)T.U's
protect their members interest.
Employers & their Organizations: Employer employs, pays
wages,regulates working relations through, rules & regulations,
expects max contribution . These organistion protect the interest
of the employer by pressurising the T.U's & Govt.
Government: Plays a balancing act. Influences Ir through,
labour legislations, IR policy, the process of conciliation and
plays a mediator role.
Significance of IR
Industrial peace: No unilateral action, consultation, goal
achievement without overstepping their territories.

Industrial Democracy: For , of and by the workers.(Joint


consultation)

Improved Productivity Ensures uninterrupted productivity.

Benefits to Workers: Better wages can be offered, non


economic incentives can be offered, changes can be made
easily.
Essentials For Sound IR
Existence of Strong well organised democratic unions.
Existence of sound & Organised employers union.
Spirit of CB & willingness to resort to Voluntary Negotiations.
Maintenance of Industrial Peace: It includes establishing
machinery for settlement of ID . Preventive & Settlement
machineries..
Govt should be provided with requisite authority for settling the
ID wherever necessary.
Provision for bipartite and tripartite committees in order to evolve
personnel policies, code of conduct, code of discipline etc.
Provision for the various committees to implement and evaluate
CB agreements, court orders etc
