PRESENTATION
WHAT IS THE STORY ALL
ABOUT?/ SUMMARY
 The Hinilawod is an epic poem from early inhabitants place
that is called Sulod in central Panay, Philippines. The Title
Hinilawod means “Tales From The Mouth of The Halawod River”.
This epic is commonly known by the community of visayans of
Panay since the name of the protagonist is noted in the
accounts of the Islanders beliefs and recorded by early Spanish
colonizers. The story of this epic is mostly exploits of three
sulodnon DemiGod brothers, Labaw Donggon, Humadapnon
and Dumalaplap.

 Abyang Durunuun- Sister of sumpoy, Lord of underworld,


whose beauty is legendary. 2nd Wife of Labaw Donggon, lived in
Tarambang Burok.

Saragnayan - Lord of the darkness

Aso Mangga - Son of Angoy Ginbitinan

Abyang Baranugon - Son of Abyang Durunuun; he


defeated Saragnayan and won his father's freedom.
CHARACTERS
 Humadapnon - 2nd of the triplets, was angry at what happened
with his brother so he wanted to take revenge.

 Buyong Matanayon - Accompanied Humadapnon, known fornhis


skills in swordmanship.

 Piganun - Seductive sorceress

 Datu Umbaw Pinaumbaw - Ruler of Piniling Tubig, he was giving his


daughter for marriage to whoever could remove the huge boulder
that rolled from a mountain into the center of the village.

 Dumalapdap - 3rd brother; left for Burutlakan-Ka-Adlaw

EXPOSITION
When the goddess of the eastern sky Alunsina (also
known as Laun Sina, “The Unmarried One”) reached
maidenhood, the king of the gods, Kaptan, decreed
that she should marry. All the unmarried gods of the
different domains of the universe tried to win her hand
to no avail. She chose to marry a mortal, Datu
Paubari, the mighty ruler of Halawod.
RISING ACTION

When Labaw
prisoned beneath
Saragnayan

 They revenge for Labaw
because Labaw is imprisoned
beneath Saragnayan. They
fought for freedom to save Labaw

RESOLUTION
Paubari was very happy when he was reunited
with his three sons and he prepared a feast in their
honor. After the celebration, the three brothers left
for different parts of the world. Labaw Donggon
went to the north, Humadapnon went south,
Dumalapdap to the west and Datu Paubari
remained in the east.
CONFLICT
The conflict of the story is when the three sons of
Alunsina (goddess of the eastern sky) and Datu
Paubari (the mighty ruler of Halawod) fight for their
desired wife.

The triplets struggles and adventures for their


desired wives.
