solution
Suction Machine
Working Principles
• Suction is the application of negative pressure
either continuously or intermittently
• This is an electrical power motor
• The pump generate negative pressure that
withdraws the air from the bottle
• He reduced pressure in the bottle draws the
fluid from patient through a tube
• A valve prevents fluid from passing into motor
Parts of suction machine and
attachment
1. Collection bottle: Jar made of glass with
plastic seal cover air tight. Mostly 2 in
number
2. Vacuum capacity pressure regulator and
meter
3. On off button
4. Filter: to prevent moisture entry to pump
5. Suction tube: connect suction nozzle to
suction bottle
Suction nozzles
a) Frazier Suction Nozzle:
• It is used in ear, nose and microsurgeries,
neurosurgeries.
• It is strong and angled available in 8 different
sizes

b) Yankauer suction tip:
• it is mostly disposable.
• mostly used in oral cavity
• Used to clear sites in operative sites in
surgeries
• It is designed to allow effective suction
without damaging tissue
