 Citizen Journalism refers to the reporting of news events by members of

the public using the internet to spread the information

 Some types of citizen journalism also act as a check on the reporting of

the larger news outlets by providing alternative analysis.

about an incident. Citizen journalism has become
increasingly popular with the rise in popularity of
smartphones. However, an early example of citizen
journalism can be found as far back as 1963.
