Fingerprint Based Exam Hall Authentication System

This document summarizes a presentation on a fingerprint-based exam hall authentication system. The system aims to reduce impersonation during exams using fingerprint biometrics. It has objectives of tracking impersonators, reducing corruption, and ensuring only registered students can write exams. The system's components include a microcontroller, fingerprint sensor, LCD, and other electrical components. It authenticates users by matching fingerprints and prevents non-verified users from accessing exams. Its advantages are accuracy, uniqueness of fingerprints, low cost, and ease of use. The system can be applied in educational institutes, industries, offices, and for security and control systems. An idea to take fingerprint-based student attendance using GSM was also proposed.

OBJECTIVES

● To create a system that is capable of tracking impersonators in

the examination system using the methodology of finger print
biometrics.

● To reduce rate of corruption in the educational sector and

increase the rate of self-confidence on students.

● enforce strict security measures that ensure unregistered

students do not write exams for other registered students.
INTRODUCTION

● Authentication has always been a major challenge in all types of

examination.

● Verification of the authentic candidate is not an easy task, and also it

consumes a lot of time and process.

● This led to the design of Fingerprint based exam hall authentication

system that is designed to pass only users
verified by their fingerprint scan and block non verified users.

● IC MAX232
● IC MAX232:
1) It is an integrated circuit which converts the signals
from the RS232 serial port to the proper signal.
2) The MAX232 can convert the signals like RX, TX,
CTS, and RTS and it is a dual driver/receiver.

7
● Center Tap Transformer:
1) A Centre tapped transformer works in more or less
the same way as a usual transformer.
2) the difference lies in just a fact that its secondary
winding is divided into two parts, so two individual
voltage can be acquired across two line ends.

● Rectifier:
1) center tap rectifier converts AC into DC .
2) It uses two diodes that are connected to secondary of
Transformer.

8
● Voltage Regulator:
● 8051 Microcontroller:
1) It is an 8-bit microcontroller.
2) It has 40 pins with internal and external ram of 128
bytes.
3) also it has ROM of 4 kb.

9
● R305 Fingerprint Sensor:
1) R305 Fingerprint Module is a serial fingerprint scanner
which can be directly connected to the PC's com port.
2) R305 Fingerprint Sensor can easily be connected to
any controller via MAX232 IC.
3) A Fingerprint Scanner performance a very basic
function: It takes an image of your fingerprints and
compares it against the data of previously sacnned
fingerprint .

10
● LCD (Liquid Crystal Display):
1) LCD is combination of two states of matter, the solid and the liquid.
2) LCD uses a liquid crystal to produce a visible image.
3) Liquid crystal displays are super-thin technology display screen that
are generally used in laptop computer screen, TVs, cell phones and
portable video games.

ADVANTAGES

● It is Highly Accurate
● It is Unique and can never be Same for two Persons
● It is the most Economical Technique
● It is Easy to Use
