FIBRE TO FABRIC

FIBRE is a thin , hair –like or thread-like strand form which yarns are made.
YARN is a continuous strand of twisted threads of fibre that are obtained from
Plants and animals sources.
The materials that we use for making a cloth is called a FABRIC. It is made by weaving or
knitting yarns such as cotton, silk.
NATURAL FIBRES : The fibres that are obtained from plants and animal sources are called
natural fibres. EG: COTTON , SILK , ETC
SYNTHETIC FIBRES : Man-made fibres are called synthetic fibres. EG: NYLON, ETC

SPINNING: The process of obtaining yarn from fibre is called spinning.
FABRIC FROM YARN
There are two processes and they are weaving and knitting
WEAVING : The process in which two sets of yarns are arranged together together to make a
Fabric.
KNITTING: The process in which a single yarn is used to make a piece of fabric.
