15-lead ECG

WHAT IS A 15-LEAD ELECTROCARDIOGRAM?

▪It is a twelve (12) lead with two (2) nodes


procedure which measures the electrical
activity of the heart
WHEN DO 15-LEAD ECG BE OF USE?

▪ Check your heart rhythm


▪ See if you have poor blood flow to your heart muscle
▪ Diagnose a heart attack.
▪ Check on things that are abnormal, such as
thickened heart muscle
▪ Detect if there are significant electrolyte
abnormalities, such as high potassium or high or low
calcium.
WHEN DO 15-LEAD ECG BE OF USE?

▪Assessment for the activity of the left


ventricle
▪It is also used in pediatric patients
Acquiring the 15-lead

▪ Run standard 12-lead ECG


▪ Lead V4R: 5th ICS
midclavicular on the right
side
▪ Same as left side V4
▪ Attach the V4 wire to the V4R

V4R position
▪ V5 to V8 and V6 to V9

▪V7: 5th ICS posterior

▪V9 horizontal to V8, in-
between V8 and the

V2 YELLOW Left 4th ICS next to the sternum
V3 GREEN Halfway in-between V2 and V4
V4 BLUE Left 5th ICS MCL
V5 ORANGE Horizontal to V4, AAL
V6 PURPLE Horizontal to V5, MAL
RA WHITE Right front part of the shoulder
LA BLACK Left front part of the shoulder
RL GREEN Lower right abdominal
LL RED Lower left abdominal

V7 BROWN 5th ICS PAL (not available on some sources)
V8 BROWN 5th ICS MSL
V9 BROWN In between V8 and the spine
