 It is use to connect different computer


at one place.
 It covers limited area i.e. around 1km.
 Data transfer is very fast which is from
10 to 100 Mbps.
 It is usually connected through wires.
 It has less possibility of errors.
 Problem normally occur due to cable
disturbance.
 EXAMPLES are computer labs,
Internet clubs etc.
METROPOLITAN AREA
NETWORK (MAN)

It is a large computer network that usually spans a


city or a large campus.
It covers a area of between 5 and 50 km diameter.
It’s speed is between 10-100 Mbps.

 EXAMPLE: Telephone company network that provide


a high speed DSL to costumers and cable TV
network.
WIDE AREA NETWORK (WAN)

It is use to connect computer any where In world.


Data transfer speed is more than 100 Mbps.
It is usually connected through telephones or satellites.

EXAMPLES are Internet, Air ticket system (PIA),


Banks with multiple brands etc.

It is used for communication among computers and


devices (including telephone) around a few meters
within a room.
It can be wired or wireless.
It generally consists of a mobile , computer, a cell
phone or personal digital assistant.
