STUDIES
CUA, KIAN FRANCIS

SARAZA, RICK
RECALL:

What is Value?
 How LIGHT or DARK something is.
 It is said to be value if it has no color.
 Isn't just important to drawing: It's what
allows us to see form.
 When we draw with value, we mimic the
way that LIGHT FALLS ON FORM to
create the illusion of three-
dimensionality.
VALUE STUDIES
 It is not only a drawing showing
the shapes that will make up the
painting (composition), but also
assigns a value to every shape from
1 (the white paper) to 5 (the
darkest dark).
 The step-by-step order in which you generate the value
study is identical to the order in which you will carry
out the painting.
