Meteoroid, Meteor

and Meteorite
The first comet was discovered by
Gottfried Kirch on the 14th of
November, 1680. Some scientists
think that comets could have originally
brought some of the water and organic
molecules to Earth that now make up
life here on planet Earth.
Meteoroids, Meteors and
Meteorites…
How are they related?
*** METEOROID IS A PIECE OF
STONE-LIKE OR METAL-LIKE
DEBRIS OR A BITS OF ROCK
THAT HAVE BROKEN OFF
FROM LARGER ASTEROIDS OR
COMETS IN THE SOLAR
SYSTEM WHICH TRAVELS IN
OUTER SPACE . IT CAN BE AS
SMALL AS GRAINS SAND OR AS A
BIG AS A BOULDER IN THE
OUTERSPACE THAT HEATS UP OR
PRODUCE FIRE ONCE ENTER THE
EARTH ATMOSPHERE DUE TO
THE AIR IN FRONT CAUSING IT
TO BURN UP.
***METEORS ARE
METEORIDES THAT ENTER
EARTH ATMOSPHERE AND
PRODUCED METEOR
SHOWER(MANY STREAKS OF
LIGHT IN THE SKY) ONCE
BURNS UP. METEORS, ALSO
KNOWN AS SHOOTING STARS,
ARE PIECES OF DUST AND
DEBRIS FROM SPACE THAT
BURN UP IN EARTH'S
ATMOSPHERE, WHERE THEY
CAN CREATE BRIGHT STREAKS
ACROSS THE NIGHT SKY.
***METEORITES IS THE
FRAGMENTS FROM METEOROID
OR A METEOR THAT FORMS A
SPACE ROCK FRAGMENTS ONCE
IT FELLS TO THE GROUND.
A METEORITE IS A SOLID PIECE
OF DEBRIS FROM AN OBJECT,
SUCH AS A COMET, ASTEROID,
OR METEOROID, THAT
ORIGINATES IN OUTER SPACE
AND SURVIVES ITS PASSAGE
THROUGH THE ATMOSPHERE TO
REACH THE SURFACE OF A
PLANET OR MOON.
Meteoroids- are
the pieces from
Asteroids
usually burns
up when it
enters Earth’s
Atmosphere
METEORS –A meteorides that enters
the earth atmosphere and produce
meteor shower.
When fragment from meteoroid survives, and fells to the ground in the form
of space rock fragment called METEORITES
Where do meteoroids come from? Well, they
can come from a lot of places. But most often
they're bits of rock that have broken off from
larger asteroids or comets in the solar
system. Sometimes they can also be the
result of collisions with planets. If a large
asteroid hits the Earth, bits of the Earth's
surface can be broken off and sent into space
