WHAT IS MOOC ?
 The term MOOC was coined in 2008 by Dave Cormier from
the university of Prince Edward Island.
 A MOOC is a free web – based distance learning program
that is designed for the participation of large number of
geographically dispersed students.
TYPES OF MOOC
There are two types of MOOC :

 x MOOC : content-based MOOCs

 cMOOC : connectivist MOOCs


PURPOSE OF MOOC

 MOOCs diversify education by adding classes to a virtual


platform ,giving anyone in the world access to the course .
 Teachers are able to handle large number of students at a
time .
 MOOCs allows students to access virtually any topic the
want to learn.
ELEMENTS OF MOOC
Four essential elements for successful MOOC :

 Autonomy – Students decide their limit of participation .

 Diversity – Students are from different background and countries .

 Openness - Allowing every person to participate .

 Interactivity – Students should chat , social networking , collaboration,


meeting and video.
