1.Autocratic Leader – makes all the decisions, does not
consult staff or members.
2.Participative Leader - involves members in decision making,
gets ideas and suggestions from members.
3.Free-rein Leader – a leaders who creates the ideas and
plans and then gives the members freedom to do tasks and
activities.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Styles of Leadership


Autocratic Leader – makes all the decisions, does not consult
staff or members
Advantage – useful in emergency situation when fast decision
making is needed.
Disadvantage – no brainstorming of ideas

Participative Leader - involves members in decision making,
gets ideas and suggestions from members.
Advantage – gets a variety of new and creative ideas from
members, higher rate of agreement from members.
Disadvantage – slower decision making

Free-rein Leader – a leaders who creates the ideas and plans and
then gives the members freedom to do tasks and activities
Advantage – gives opportunity for members to act and use their skills
and talents, maximizes members and their potentials
Disadvantage – minimum control, higher risks if members are not
properly controlled

Transactional Leader – a leaders


who guide members to achieve
goals by using proper
communication ,social exchange or
transactions and by giving rewards
for their productivity.

concern to members, rather
