COMMAND-
 A COMMAND is defined as a valid instruction which is given by
the user to the software for which the software respond back
to the user by giving certain messages called PROMPTS.
INTRODUCTION TO INTERFACE-
this is the autocad screen from which we
starts our drawing.

to get
drawing
interface
This is drawing interface. Here we perform
our drawing.

APPLICATION
BUTTON
Units-
 Before we start any drawing we have to set a proper unit. Basically we
create drawings in decimal and imperial units.
 Type letter UN in command dialogue box and you will get drawing units
dialogue box will appear as-
LIMITS-
 Setting LIMITS is defined as the process of defining a rectangular area from
an infinite screen to perform drafting or modelling.
 The drawing limits as defined by AUTOCAD is a rectangular area which you
are allowed to draw. This is the area which will be displayed when you
“zoom” “all.”
 1. Give command LIMITS in command box and set lower left corner limits as
0,0
 2. Set upper right corners limit as desired.
 3. Then press “zoom” along with “all” to get desired rectangular area for
drawing.
Lines-
 The line is the most basic and common object in AutoCAD drawings.
To draw a line, click the Line tool
 Alternatively, you can type LINE or just L in the Command window,
and then press Enter or the Spacebar.

 To specify the starting point for this line, you would type in the
coordinates 0,0. It is a good idea to locate one corner of your model
at0,0, which is called the origin point. To locate additional points,
you could specify additional X,Y coordinate locations in the drawing
area
POINTS-
 In AutoCAD, you can make simple points using the POINT or PO
command, these points are also called nodes. To make the point
simply type PO press enter and then click at a point on the drawing
area or specify the coordinates of the point where you want to
make the point.

 By default, the point will appear as a single dot in the drawing area
and you can take reference of these points to make your drawing.
The points will not be selectable by default, to make these points
selectable activate node option in the object snap status bar
option as shown in the image below.
Changing point type-
 But you can also change the default point style using PTYPE
command.
 Type PTYPE on the command line and press enter, Point Style
window will open with a list of available point styles. You can select
any other point style from this list of points and click OK to apply the
point style
CIRCLE-
 Select the circle tool by clicking the circle button with cursor or
write the “c” in the command window and press enter.
 There are 6 different options to draw the circle which are in the following.
 Center, Radius:
First select the center radius circle drawing option. Then
select the center of the circle and then put the numerical value
of circle radius and press enter button
.
 Center, Diameter:
First select the center radius circle drawing option. Then
select the center of the circle and then put the numerical
value of circle diameter and press enter button.
.
3 Point:
This option is used if want to draw a circle that
passing through or toughing any three points.
ARCS-
 Let’s start with the 3-Point method
because it’s the default option and
easiest to understand. You simply pick
three points to define the arc you
want to create. The first point
specifies the start of the arc, the
second point can be anywhere on the
arc, and the third point specifies the
end of the arc. The arc draws
clockwise or counterclockwise
depending on the points you pick. This
method can be especially useful when
sketching or tracing geometry
The last option on the Arc menu is Continue. This method
enables you to easily draw an arc that is tangent to the last
line, arc, or polyline that was drawn. Like the 3-Point option,
this method is good for sketching
OBJECT SELECTION-
 1. Window -You can define
a window selection by
This action
clicking at two points. Click will select:
first point on the left side, (dotted
and 2nd point on the right circles are
the selection)
side. This will select all
elements inside the
window3. Cross Window
 2.Cross window-Basically if
your window selection
This action
defined from right to left, will select:
then it will be cross window
selection. It will select all
elements inside and
touching the window
Object selection-
 3.FENCE-You can select drawing
elements by defining ‘a fence’
that touched objects you
wanted. Just type F then
This action
[enter] to activate it. After you will select
finish defining your fence, press
[enter] to select
 4.WINDOW POLYGON-This
option behave as window
selection, but you can define
unlimited points for that
window. Just type WP then
[enter] to activate it. All
elements inside the window will
be selected.
Editing commands-
 Editing commands in AutoCAD, which allow you to edit objects
(groups of objects) or whole drawings. Knowledge of the basics of
editing objects (drawings) will allow you to work in the system quickly
and efficiently. Editing commands allow you to rotate, copy, scale
objects, edit text, hatching, dimensions, etc.
 Editing toolbar-The main editing commands of AutoCAD, as well as
frequently used advanced editing commands, are located on the Edit
toolbar.
Polyline-
 Objects considered earlier: rectangle, polygon, mark cloud (correctional), ring -
all of them consist of polylines. If you select any of these objects and open
properties panel in window, “Polyline” will be written in window header, so these
objects can be created directly in program using AutoCAD Polyline tool.
 Command Polyline-To create polyline in AutoCAD, you need to select Polyline
(Pliny, Polyline) command, which you can call in one of following ways (start its
construction):
1.You can create polyline using Drawing - Polyline string option from menu bar.
2.You can build it from Home tab of ribbon of tools - in Drawing group of tools-
. Polyline button.
3.You can draw polyline from Drawing toolbar — Polyline button.
4.Or you can do it by writing command name in command line Pliny/Polyline
Rectangle-
 Creates a rectangular polyline from the specified the rectangle parameters
(length, width, rotation) and type of corners (fillet, chamfer, or square).
a.Drawing start by clicking the command button on the toolbar or DRAW (text menu
=> DRAW => RECTANGLE) or by typing commands in the Command Line prompt.

b.After launching the command. (Before the first mouse click on the desktop drawing)

c.Specify first corner point or [chamfer/Elevation/Fillet/Thickness/Width]:

d.After the first mouse click have the command line prompt:

e.Specify other corner point or [Area/Dimensions/Rotation]: R [Rotate rectangle]

Specify rotation angle or [Pick points] <0>: 45 [rotation]

f.Otherwise, draw a rectangle at an angle and can be a way to rotate the UCS and then
horizontal rectangle will track the direction of axis X.
Properties pallet-
 The Properties palette is an essential tool. You can open it with the
PROPERTIES command (enter PR in the Command window), you can
press Ctrl + 1, or you can click the tiny arrow in the Properties panel
on the Home tab—whichever you prefer.
Hatches-
 In AutoCAD, a hatch is a single, compound object that covers a
specified area with a pattern of lines, dots, shapes, a solid fill
colour, or a gradient fill.

 When you start the HATCH command, the ribbon temporarily displays
the Hatch Creation tab. On this tab, you can choose from over 70
industry-standard imperial and ISO hatch patterns along with many
specialized options.
The simplest procedure is to choose a hatch pattern and
scale from the ribbon, and click within any area that is
completely enclosed by objects. You must specify the scale
factor for the hatch in order to control its size and spacing.
