 OPERATING POSITIONS
 1.Right/left front position
 Mandibular anterior teeth
 Mandibular posterior teeth
 Maxillary anterior teeth
 2.Right/left position
 Facial surface of the mandibular, maxillary right/left posterior teeth.
 Occlusal surface of the mandibular posterior teeth.
 3.Right/left rear position
 Lingual & incisal (Occlusal) surface of maxillary teeth
 Mandibular teeth of left side
 4. Direct rear position
 Lingual surface of mandibular anterior teeth
 FOUR ZONES IN OPERATIVE FIELD
 1. Operators’ zone
 2. Transfer zone
 3. Assistant zone
 4.Static zone
 COMMON POSITION’S WITHIN THE OPERATORS’ ZONE
 12 o’clock
 Utilized for maxillary & mandibular interior segments.
 Resulting in severe bending of the operators back and neck.
 11 o’clock
 Most universal operating position.
 9 o’clock
 An alternate position for mandibular right quadrant.
 7 o’clock
 Usually used in conjunction with a mirror.

PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID TO MSDs’
 Always try to maintain erect posture.
 Consider horizontal patient position.
 Use an adjustable chair with lumbar, thoracic & arm support.
 Alternate work position between sitting, standing & side of
patient
 Minimize excessive wrist movement.
 Check the placement of the adjustable light.
 Work close to your body.
 Check the temperature of the room.
 Avoid excessive finger movement.
 Adjust the height of the chair.
