• Mandate

 The Safety and Environment Department is the primary vanguard in promoting safe working place and condition; it shall formulate
and implement effective safety rules to all premises in the company, contractors and providers. The department shall champion the
safeguarding and enhancement of the environment in the course of profitable business operation of the company; it shall steer the
company’s compliance to legal requirements, environmental laws and issuances and shall endeavor to become the benchmark in
the industry’s crusade for clean and sustainable environment.

• Objectives

 To provide operational and management leadership in safety and environmental issues and concerns of the company
and contractors.
 To formulate a system of compliance of safety and environment rules and regulations.
• Key Result Areas
 Provision for lost-time and no-lost-time accident statistics and implementation of measures for improvement (i.e, 1mio NLTA through
year 2018 and 2mio LTA through year 2018)
 Crafting of safety and environment policies and procedures for promotion of safe work areas and practices and clean environment.
 Development of overall risk management manual and formulation of department-specific risk assessment by April 2018.
 Dissemination and cascading of shore-based safety rules and practices by March 2018
 Formulation of department-specific risk assessment by March 2018
 Conduct of complete cycle emergency drills (earthquake, fire, tsunami, inundation) and provision for evaluation process for continual
improvement by October 2018
 Preparation for ISO 45001-compliant work environment and workforce by October 2018
 Conduct of semi-annual safety audits and follow-through of closure of non-conformities, if any, by July 2018.
 Identification and installation of safety measures for newbuilds and construction repair projects.
 Application for, and release of, ECC by April 2018
 Compliance of ECC conditionalities
 Construction of MRF by May 2018
 Cascading of material segregation system by May 2018.
 Implementation of process to manage the proper disposal of scraps (metal, used oil, used tires, etc.) and wastes, with immediate
kickstarting and throughout 2018.
 As Pollution Control Officer, manage compliance and submission of DENR/EMB reportorial requirements, by periodic requirement
schedules.
 Conduct of regular and random shore safety and environmental inspections and installation of quick-fixes and corrective actions, with
immediate kickstarting and throughout 2018.
 Completion & competency-verified training programs by June 2018.
 Preparation for counter-benchmarking with Chelsea group, by October 2018
