Educational tour is a short trip or outgoing to some place,
usually for a special purpose and with the intention of a
prompt return. It's a learning experience outside the class
room. These tour supplement classroom learning by
providing students with an opportunity to see the actual
places, artifacts, flora and fauna or phenomena that are
describe in text book and lectures. Education tour provide
valuable educational opportunities away from the class
room, without using textbooks and other tools use in a
normal class room setting. If the educational tour
destination has staff members who do hands-on teaching
with visiting students, such as at a science center or
research institute the students will be excited to Learn
from some new.

Geography
 A small coastal region is on the extreme south of
the state. A part of the district of Purba
Medinipur along the Bay of Bengal constitutes the
coastal plain. This emergent coastal plain is made
up of sand and mud deposited by rivers and by
wind. Parallel to the coast are colonies of sand
dunes and marshy areas. The Digha dune lies
nearest to the Bay of Bengal while the Kanthi
dune is the farthest from it. In some areas dunes
occur at a distance of 15–16 km from the coast and
are 11–12 m high. Shankarpur beach near Digha is
a part of this coastal plain

Topography
 Digha is located at 21.68°N 87.55°E. It has an
average elevation of 6 metres (20 ft).
 It is located 183 km (114 mi)
from Kolkata/Howrah via Mecheda and 234 km
(145 mi) via Kharagpur, this proximity has
probably helped this small hamlet to emerge as a
popular weekend getaway with number of good
hotels and tourist lodges. Digha is connected to
Kolkata/Howrah by a highway and a rail-link
via Tamluk. Now many trains including a
DURONTO EXPRESS run between Digha and
Howarh and other stations in eastern India.

Shankarpur Beach
Waterways Department

 Irrigation Department came into being in the year

1920, separating out from Public Works Department
and was named Irrigation & Waterways only in 1946.
In the pre-plan period i.e., prior to 1951, irrigation was
effected through Diversion Schemes on rivers
Kangsabati and Damodar. Irrigation potential created
up to 1951 was of the order of 1,39,000 ha. Now the
department is entrusted with the task of providing
irrigation facilities, offering reasonable protection
against flood, alleviating drainage congestion,
arresting erosion, maintaining internal navigation
channels and up-keeping the natural waterways in the
state. Since 1951 till date several Major and Medium
Irrigation Projects, number of Embankment Schemes,
Town protection Schemes, Drainage Schemes, Anti
River Bank Erosion Schemes & Anti Sea - Erosion
Schemes have been taken up by the department. With
the help of existing Rain Gauge stations and River
Gauge stations and collection of data and interaction
with some relevant departments like CWC, IMD etc., a
Flood Warning System has been developed.

Central Marine Fisheries Research
Institute

The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute

was established by Government of India on
February 3rd 1947 under the Ministry of
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and later it
joined the ICAR family in 1967. During the
course of over 65 years the Institute has
emerged as a leading tropical marine fisheries
research institute in the world.
Since its inception, the CMFRI grew
significantly in its size and stature and built up
adequate research infrastructure and recruited
qualified staff. During the first half of the five
decades of its existence, the CMFRI devoted its
research attention towards the estimation of
marine fisheries landings and effort, taxonomy
of marine organisms and the bio-economic
characteristics of the exploited stocks of finfish
and shellfish. This research effort contributed
significantly to India’s marine fisheries
development from a predominantly artisanal,
sustenance fishery till the early sixties to that of
a complex, multi-gear, multispecies fisheries.

Udaypur

 The Udaipur beach in Digha is one of most pristine and

exquisite sea beaches in India. This unexplored 'virgin sea
beach' is located on the border of Orissa and is nestled
between New Digha and Talsari. Though just 3 kilometres
away from the Digha station, the beach seems to be miles
away from it metaphorically. The lonely beach, far far
away from the crowded and claustrophobic city life, is
dotted with towering casuarina trees and the makeshift
stalls of the fishermen who sell fish here. The place is
especially famous for its scenic beauty, and people from
all parts of the world visit the beach to capture these
picturesque views in their sight forever.
 A number of exciting options of activities at the Udaipur
Beach and enjoy yourself with friends and family. These
include swimming, taking a long walk along the sea shore,
enjoying adventure sports such as Speed Boat or Banana
Boat, riding bikes, or tasting the local delicacies. The local
shops at the beach serve lip-smacking traditional
delicacies, which primarily comprises of seafood such as
prawns and fish curry.
Tajpur

Tajpur is located in Purba Medinipur, in the

state of West Bengal, India on the shore of Bay
of Bengal (near Digha). Tajpur is set
between Mandarmani and Shankarpur. Tajpur is
170 km from the state capital Kolkata.
Tajpur has also around 1400 acres of land
dedicated to Pisciculture. There are a number of
bheris or fish-ponds in the area. As a tourist
attraction, it is relatively new as there are fewer
hotels compared to Digha and Mandarmani. The
beach is clean and home to numerous red crabs.
The Government of West Bengal and Central
Government decided to build the Tajpur Port in
the area.
Mondarmoni

in the state of West Bengal, India, lies
in East Midnapore district and at the
northern end of the Bay of Bengal. It is
one of the large and fast developing

relatively low waves than nearer tourist
