What actually happened ??

• January 2007 - Apple files design patents.


• 2010 - Steve jobs warns Samsung of not copying the Iphone.
• April 5, 2011 - Apple sues Samsung in US that several of Samsung's Android
phones and tablets infringed on Apple's intellectual property.
• April 22, 2011 - Samsung counter-sues Apple in Seoul, South Korea, Tokyo, Japan
and Germany, alleging Apple infringed Samsung's patents for mobile-
communications technologies.
• By August 2011, Apple and Samsung were litigating 19 ongoing cases in nine
countries; by October, the legal disputes expanded to ten countries.
• By July 2012, the two companies were still embroiled in more than 50 lawsuits
around the globe, with billions of dollars in damages claimed between them.
Dec. 2012: Judge Koh decides jury made $400 million error. In Nov. 2013 retrial
Apple awarded $290 million.
Dec. 2012: Judge Koh denies Apple’s motion to halt U.S. sales of Samsung’s
infringing devices.
April 2014: In second Apple v. Samsung trial, jury awards Apple $120 million,
Samsung $160,000.
Dec. 2015: Samsung agrees to pay Apple $548 million.
Samsung paid $539 million in damages to Apple on 24 May 2018.On 27
June2018, Judge Lucy Koh informed that Apple and Samsung have reached a
settlement and the Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.
