 A government policy is a rule or principle that


hopefully better guides decisions, resulting in positive
outcomes that enhance the community or
unit. Government policies contain the reasons
things are to be done in a certain way and why.
Government policies on Liquor
 The production, sales, and distribution pursue a
complicated tax structure in India differing from state
to state.

 Tax on imported liquors lies between 100 to 500%.

 since it is one of the prominent source of revenu for


the government. It ignores the standpoint of public
health while framing its taxation policies.
 Delhi
Excise rules of Delhi don't permit a single person to stock
more then 18 litres of any kind of liquor like i.e.
wine/cider/alcopop/beer etc.

Excise rules do not permit a person to stock not more then 9


litres of Indian and foreign i.e. Rum/vodka/gin/whiskey at
home or parties.
 Punjab
In Punjab a family can stock two bottles of IMFL (Indian
made foreign liquor); and two bottles of imported liquor of
any size (1 or 5lt) and 1 case of beer(650ml each).

And family can stock two bottles of the nation made alchole
and of brandy .
Goa
Goa is a hot favourite destination that permits 24 bottles of
beer 12 containers of IMFL alcohols and 6 bottles of
rectified spirit and denatured spirit at home and 18 bottles
of country alcohols.

The punishment for defaulters is very stringent in Goa as per


the excise act the punishment is either rigorous
imprisonment up to 6 months and extendable up to seven
years with or without fine.
Advertisement of liquor

 In India there is a ban on alcohol advertisements in


mass media.

 But all major alcoholic product manufactures advertise


ostensibly non alcoholic product with the same or
similar named products, logos as overall appearance as
there alcoholic products.
Rules and Regulations to
consume liquor in India

 Liquor in India Generally sold at liquor stores


restaurants, hotels, pubs, bars, and clubs but not on
line.

 Consummations of liquor by age differs from state to


state in India and in some states liquor is totally ban.

 Consuming liquor in public places is prohibited in


India. however it can be differ to places to places.
