What are Percussion Instruments?.


1.)The percussion family has the biggest variety
of instruments.
2.) Some percussion instruments are pitched
and some are unpitched.
Pitched You can play a melody. A pitched
instruments plays differents notes.

Unpitched You can not play a melody, only play
diferent rhythms.

3.) To make sounds on a percussion instruments, you
must hit, shake or scrape the instruments with
your hands or sticks.

• Largest drum in the percussion family.
• Play a low sound.
• Used in orchestras and bands.
• Unpitched.
CYMBALS
• This metal disks are clashed together.
• They come in many sizes.
• Can sound soft and delicate.
• Unpitched.
TRIANGLE
• The triangle is steal with a triangular shape.
• The tone varies according to how hard you strike
it.
• Unpitched.
XILOPHONE
• A xilophone is a set of wood bars, mounted on a
frame.
• The smaller bars make highest notes.
• The bars are hit with a mallet.
• Pitched.
CHIMES
• Chimes are metal tubes of differents lengths.
When you hit the tubes with a mallet, they
sound like the ringing bells.
CASTANETS
• Are made of two pieces of wood tied
together.
• This instruments come from Spain.
• To play them you hold them with your fingers.
