• Domestic satellites are used to provide


variations telecommunications services, such
as voice, data and video transmissions.
• Situated in geostationary orbit.
• Used for TV channels, DTH services
• Broadly classified as high power, medium
power and low power

INTELSAT
• International telecommunications satellite
• Created in 1964, has over 140 member
countries
• Capacity in terms of number of voice channels
• Design lifetime increases
• They are geostationary, meaning that they
appear to be stationary in relation to the
earth.
• INTELSAT covers three main regions- the
atlantic ocean region, indian ocean region,
pacific ocean region
• INTELSAT VII-VII/A covers 18000 two way
telephone circuits and three TV channels,
• VII/A covers 22500 two way telephone circuits
and three TV channels.
