The Mazda Demio or Mazda 2 is a passenger car of the B

segment produced by the Japanese manufacturer Mazda

since 1996. It is a five-seater with front transverse engine
and front-wheel drive that can be found with bencinero and
diesel engine model from 1.3 to 1.6 displacements. Its main
rivals are the Honda Fit, Mitsubishi Mirage, Nissan March,
Suzuki Swift, Chevrolet Spark, Volkswagen Polo, Subaru
Justy, Hyundai Accent and Toyota
The first generation was put on sale in July of 1996. The
Demio was subjected to a small image wash in 2000. It
mainly modified the design of the front pilots, the front and
rear bumpers, in addition to giving a sophisticated interior
design
The second generation of the Demio was launched on the
market in 2002. It is built on the same platform as the Ford
Fiesta, although it is taller, in the same way as a Honda City
or a Volkswagen Fox. It was offered only with a hatchback
body of five doors.
The third generation was officially presented at the 2007
Geneva Motor Show. It has hatchback bodies with three and
five doors and a fourth-door sedan with an approved weight
of 100 kg lower than its predecessor.
This new generation, came to adopt the new Mazda
SkyActiv technology. It exists in body hatchback of five
doors and sedan. This generation loses a significant
amount of weight compared to the previous generation,
thanks to SkyActiv technology, which involves a reduction
of weight in engine, transmission and chassis.
The 2012 Mazda uses a four-cylinder, 1.5L displacement
engine with dual overhead camshafts and 16 valves that
produces a not inconsiderable 102 horsepower and 98 lb.-
ft. of torque. For both versions that are marketed in our
market (Sport and Touring), is coupled to a manual
transmission of five relationships, but for the higher level of
equipment -Touring- there is the option of an automatic
four.
Following the design philosophy of the brand, we find many
circles inside, the Mazda2 board is a combination of these
with some subtle straight lines. The knobs that control the
air conditioning, the instruments (speedometer and
tachometer) and the screen that shows the information of
the sound system, adpotan this form to break with the rest
of the boards of the subcompacts.
The seats are lined in fabric, but have very good lateral
support and are composed of two different textures
separated by a line in red, something that gives them a
sporty and very nice touch.
Among the amenities are air conditioning, travel computer,
fog lights, rear wiper, front and rear electric windows,
sound system with six speakers, audio controls at the
wheel, auxiliary input, CD and MP3 player, while in the
Safety scope: front airbags, ABS, emergency braking
assistance and brake distribution make up the list.
The Mazda2 seems to me an excellent option for those
looking for a small, fun, practical, well assembled product
with a good level of equipment. Its engine will not be the
most powerful but it is quite economical and entertaining
for family trips and to use as a work tool for its economy.
