Marine Division

Auto Rotation Detection Strategy

 This strategy requires two functioning Speed/Timing Sensors.

 This Strategy determines Rotation based on the phase relationship between the
two Speed/Timing Sensors.
 The measured rotation is stored in non volatile memory.
 In the event of a failed Speed/Timing Sensor, this strategy uses the stored
rotation in non volatile memory.

New Air Shutoff Detection Strategy

 This Feature is ET Configurable and Only applies to Engines fitted with Air Shutoffs

 Air Shutoff Detection Switches Signal ADEM when One or Both Shutoffs are Tripped

 If Engine is Running, ADEM:

 Trips Air Shutoffs.
 Disables Fuel.
 Kills Power to Itself (Both ADEMs in the case of a Prop).
 This Condition is latched and is cleared when ECS turned to OFF

 If Engine is not running, ADEM:

 Annunciates Condition on MPD Display.
 Latched Inhibit of all Start Attempts
 Both Air Shutoffs must be Reset before Latch can be Reset.
 Latch is Reset by momentarily setting ECS to OFF.

Programmable Governor Gains

 Governor Gains are Adjusted From the Configuration Parameters Screen in ET

 The Three Gain Constants can be Adjusted without a Password
 Governor Gain Factor ………………………….... (Proportional Gain)
 Governor Minimum Stability factor …………… (Minimum Integral Gain)
 Governor Maximum Stability factor …………... (Maximum Integral Gain)

 All Three Gain Constants have an adjustment range of 0-40,000

 The Minimum Integral Gain is active under conditions that are close to steady state.
 The Maximum Integral Gain is active under conditions that are more transient in nature
 The Criteria for selecting between Minimum & Maximum Integral Gains is NOT adjustable
 The value of any of the three gains can be returned to the factory default value by entering a
value of ZERO
 Value Entries Greater than 40,000 are Ignored
 Both Integral Gains now have the Same Scale Factor (unlike ADEM II)
 Initial Tuning for Stability can therefore be performed by Setting the Two Integral
Gains at Equal Values
 Later Tuning for Improved Response can then be performed by experimenting with the
Maximum Integral Gain Value

Torque Limiting

 This Feature Provides a Switch able Torque Limit for the Case Where the
Peak Value of the Standard Torque Limit is too High for certain Operating
Modes of the Engine

 The Torque Limiting Strategy is enabled by programming the Torque Limit

Enable Status in Cat ET

 The Torque Limit Enable Status Screen in ET Requires Entry of the Value
of the Switched Torque Limit

 Software not Requiring EPA/IMO Certification can have the Minimum

Value of Switched Torque Limit Set Down to as Low as Zero

 Emissions Compliant Software will Limit the Minimum Value that can be
entered to the Torque Value produced at Standard Rated Power at Rated
Speed

Programmable Droop

 In Isochronous Operation the Engine Speed stays constant irrespective of load.

 In Droop Operation the Engine Speed progressively slows with increasing load.
 Maximum Droop Setting is 8.0%.
 Minimum Droop Setting is 2.5%.
 Droop is adjusted 0.1% increments using the ET service tool.
 Setting Droop to 0% Disables Droop & Restores Isochronous Governing.
 Activating Droop Rescales Throttle to give Rated Speed at 100% Throttle.
 ET & MPD Display Throttle Desired Speed when Droop is Activated, not True
Governed Speed
 Actual Droop Gain progressively reduces from it’s nominal (ET) setting at 100%
Throttle (Rated Speed), to 0% at 0% Throttle (Idle Speed).

Droop Adjustment (AUX Only)

 Currently, the Gen Set Droop Adjustment can be set in two ways:
 Via ET on the Configuration Screen.
 The Same as in ADEM II with a PWM signal.
 If a PWM signal is connected to the legacy droop input of the ADEM,
the Droop Value it Represents overrides the ET setting.
 Production Series II Engine Harnesses do not have this legacy Droop
Connection to the ADEM.

Series II Marine Software

 New Software for A3 Equivalent to previous ADEM 2
 New Specifications/Pricing Ar/Price List
 Serial number prefix prevents flashing A3 to ADEM 2
 All Software loaded to Sisweb and readxref.txt
 Refer to web site https://sis.cat.com

Reasons for software change:

1:To change from Air Shutoff configuration to air shutoff switch detection
2:To eliminate undesired starter engag ement on off/reset
3:To eliminate a erroneous air shutoff detect event
4:Updated torque, monitoring and core m aps with the 1835 rpm version.
