responding to nature.
 Culture is the social behavior and norms
found in human societies. Culture is a
central concept in anthropology,
encompassing the range of phenomena
that are transmitted through social
learning in human societies.
 The sum total of the learned behavior of a
group of people that are generally considered
to be the tradition of that people and are
transmitted from generation to generation.
 A way of life of a
group of a people – the
behaviors, beliefs,
values, and symbols
that they accept
without thinking about
them.
Taylor : “ Culture is the complex whole which
includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law,
customs and habits and any capabilities acquired
by man as a member of society”.
 Linton: “ Culture is social heredity, which is
transmitted from one generation to another with
the accumulation of individual experiences”.
 John Beattee: “ Culture is the way of life which
is transmitted from generation to generation”.
