 Photography is defined as the

process of forming a permanent


image or a light- sensitive material
with focused light. Photography is
a means of communication, a
research tool, a method of
retaining accurate pictorial
records of events, and an art
medium.
A photography is a picture made
through the action of light. The word
“photography” comes from Greek
words photos and graphos, meaning
“light” and “writing”.
 To take a photograph of a subject, you
need only a camera. The camera is a
tool to produce an image on the film.
When you take a picture, light rays
reflected from your subject enter the
camera through the lens.

 Is an apparatus for taking photographs,


consisting of lightproof enclosure, having
an aperture with a stuttered lens
through which an image is formed.

functions
 Lens- a convex lens in front of the camera
that converges light images to the film into
sharp images.
 Aperture Control - a diaphragm of
overlapping leaves connected in a
standardized series of “f stops”.
 Shutter release button- activates the
shutter mechanism which control the
amount of light reaching the film.
 Focusing Mechanism- moves the lens
backward and forward so that the
image seen on the viewfinder can be
brought in to focus.
 Viewfinder- used to locate the frame
the photo subject use.
