Commercial Invoice

• Basic and most important document in export transaction

• Exporter’s bill for merchandise or goods sold by him- Contact of sale

• Indicates the total chargeable amount

• Provides both the consignor’s and consignee’s details and the order
number

• Includes the terms of delivery and payment

• Importer will use this invoice and other shipping documents to get
the products cleared through customs in the country of import
 Packing List
• Detailed document that states details of the product and packaging details
contained in each shipment.

• Includes details of number of packages, quantity packed in each of them,

weight and measurement of each package and the net and gross weight
of total consignment

• Excludes the financial part of the transaction but concentrates on the

physical and material part

• The freight forwarder, customs broker or other supply chain partners will
use the information contained on the document to correctly identify and
transport cargo.

• Custom authorities can carryout the physical examination of the cargo

against the declaration made in the packing list.
 Intimation for Inspection
• The Export Inspection Council of India (EIC) was set up for quality control and pre-
shipment inspection.

• EIC provides mandatory certification for various food items namely fish & fishery
products, dairy product, honey, egg products, meat and meat products, poultry
meat products, etc.

• Export (Quality Control and Inspection) Act, 1963 exempts the following categories
of export:
– Export House, Trading House, Super Trading House and Super Star Trading
House
– 100% Export oriented unit set up in the Export Processing Zones or Free Trade
Zones
– Products bearing ISI mark/AGMARK
• The GIA Diamond Grading Report includes an assessment of the 4Cs –
– Color
– Clarity
– Cut
– Carat Weight
along with a plotted diagram of its clarity characteristics and a
graphic representation of the diamond’s proportions.

• GIA issues the Diamond Grading Report for loose natural diamonds
only, weighing 0.15 carats or more.
