The client is under my advisory class in
Recodo National High School Senior
High under the General Academic
Strand.
Current family and/or household
membership
The client lives with parents and siblings.
Also, the father does occasional overnight
visitations to the client.
Family of origin

The client lives with her immediate and extended

family. The father is a security guard, while the
mother is a plain housewife. Elder sister provides
financially to the family, and is the only
professional in the family. One elder sister also has
the same conditions with the client. The two sisters
were born out of wedlock.
Interpersonal and role functioning

The client is active in social media,

specifically facebook. Using this medium, it
appears that she is very expressive and
flirtatious; behaving not appropriate to her
being a parent. However, she is introvert in
person.
Education history and intellectual
functioning
The client is currently in Grade 12 under modular
curriculum because of her present condition
wherein she breastfeeds her newly-born child who
is only three (3) months old. She gave birth twice in
one year. She is academically good.
Physical functioning

She is very thin and looks

malnourished.
Strengths and usual ways of
coping
Her strength is her father who
supervises her, occasionally. The use of
facebook also gives her a sense of
comfort and security.
Cultural background

She is Bisaya and a Catholic but is

not religious.
Employment

The client is a student but during her

free time, she sells peanut in school so
she could buy the diapers of her child.
Economic situation, housing,
transportation
She comes from a poor family. Her
living conditions is relatively well since
her elder sister is gainfully-employed.
Use of community
resources
The client is not a member of any
healthcare services from the local health
centre. But during her pregnancy, she
enjoyed pre-natal services from the local
health centre. She is not a member of the
DSWD’s 4 Ps, and receives no support from
husband.
Impressions and assessment
We therefore conclude that she is relatively lonely and
finds her identity and importance through social media
(facebook), as a result, she became pregnant twice in a
year to two different men who did not show any inclination
of commitment. She finds her importance and
belongingness to a man and perceives little importance of
herself.
Intervention:
-Counselling on the use of contraceptives
-Counselling on the use of social media
-Skills training (for employment/additional income)
-Parenting Counselling
-Spiritual Counselling (to find her self-worth)
