INTRODUCTION:
The Semantic Web is an extension of the World Wide Web
through standards by the World Wide Web Consortium
(W3C). The standards promote common data formats and
exchange protocols on the Web, most fundamentally the
Resource Description Framework (RDF). According to the
W3C, "The Semantic Web provides a common framework
that allows data to be shared and reused across application,
enterprise, and community boundaries".
Semantics
 Semantic is related to the word “syntax”.
But
Syntax is how to say something and semantics
is the meaning behind what to say
Web
 The web is a system of interlinked
document accessed via the internet.
 Computer use network protocols to
communicate in networks.
Web 2.0
Web 2.0 describe the world wide web website that
emphasize user-generated content and usability(ease of
use,even by non-expert).

Example:-you Tube,Social networking sites such as

facebook,Instagram etc.
scenario of web 2.0
Most of the web content is suitable for human use.
Information seeking,publishing,and using ,searching
for people and products,shopping,reviewing
catalouges, etc
Dynamic pages generatedbased on information from
databases but without original information structure
found in databases.
Limitations of the web 2.0 search
The web search results are high recall , low
precision.
Results are highly sensitive to vocabulary.
Results are single web pages.
Most of the publishing contents are not
structured to allow logical reasoning and query
answering.
Reason behinds searching an
alternative of web 2.0
In web 2.0 , web pages are written in HTML . HTML
describes the syntax not the semantics.
If computer can understand the meaning behind the
information.
They can learn what we are interested in.
They can help us better find what we want
AND

This is really what the Semantic Web is all about.

Semantic Web Includes:
Entity: A thing with distinct and independent existence.
SEO :Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of increasing the
visibility of a website or a web page to users of a web search engine.
Synonyms:a word or phrase that means exactly or nearly the same as
another word or phrase in the same language,
Contextualisation :It is putting language items into a meaningful and
real context
Knowledge Graph: It represents a collection of interlinked
descriptions of entities – real-world objects, events, situations or
abstract concepts :An abstract concept is an idea that people can
understand that has no physical form.
Topical Hub : It is simply a thorough piece of content that answers
almost any question—and, thus, any long-tail keyword search—on
the topic.
Humming Bird : Hummingbird is the codename given to a significant
algorithm change in Google Search in 2013. Its name was derived
from the speed and accuracy of the hummingbird.
UX : User experience (UX) design is the process of creating products
that provide meaningful and relevant experiences to users.
Co-occurance : the fact of two or more things occurring together or
simultaneously.
Component of Semantic web
URL : stand for Uniform Resource Locator, used to specify the addresses on the
world wide web.
XML : stand for extensive markup language,XML is a markup language like
HTML,and designed to store and transport data.
RDF : stands for Resource Description Framework, family of W3C specifications
originally designed as a metadata data model.
OWL : Web Ontology Language is a semantic web language designed to represent
rich and complex knowledge about things ,group of things, relation between
things.
SPARQL : pronounced as “sparkle”, Semantic query language for databases.
SWRL : The semantic web rule language is a proposed language for the semantic
web that can be used to express rules as well as logic combining OWL.
working
The Semantic web proposed to help computers “read”
and the web.The big idea is pretty simple-Metadata
added to web pages can make the existing World Wide
Web machine readable. This won’t make computers
self aware , but it will give machine tools to find
,exchange and , to a limited extent , interpret
information.
Advantage of semantic web:
Semantic web will make search tasks faster and
easier.
Semantic web will make searches,more
personalized.
Semantic web browser will act as a personal
assistant.
Conclusion

The Semantic Web is an initiative that aims

at improving the current state of the World
Wide Web.
