Israel.

Introduction.

 Israel is a country in Western Asia, located on


the southeastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea and
the northern shore of the Red Sea.
Business culture.

 Israelis are direct, assertive and ambitious.


 Business is usually informal and fast paced.
 Meetings are relationship oriented.
 Relaxed about deadlines and appointments- 15-20
mins delay is common.
 Handshakes- common way of greeting.
 Dress code is relaxed.
 For business meals, most restaurants in Israel are
kosher, but it is always better to double-check the
restaurant in case of very religious partners.
Food.

 Fresh salad is eaten with almost every meal.


 Seasonal fruits and vegetables are eaten.
 Restaurant menu also changes with seasons.
 Persian Tea is usually consumed after lunch.
 They don’t consume meat and dairy products at the
same time.
 Falafel is very famous and liked by all.
Festivals

 HANUKKAH
a) Hanukkah is observed for eight nights and days, starting on the 25th
day of Kislev.
b) Which may occur at any time from late November to late December. \
c) The festival is observed by lighting the candles of a candelabrum with
nine branches.
d) One branch is typically placed above or below the others and its candle
is used to light the other eight candles.
e) The unique candle is named as Shamash.
ROSH HASHANAH

The Jewish New Year, is widely celebrated with festive family meals
and symbolic foods.
Sweetness is the main theme and the dinner typically begin with apples
dipped in honey, and end with honey cake.
The challah is usually round, often studded with raisins and drizzled
with honey, and other symbolic fruits and vegetables are eaten as an
entree, such as pomegranates, carrots, leeks and beets.
Fish dishes are served; for example, gefilte fish is traditional for
Ashkenazim, while Moroccan Jews prepare the spicy fish
dish, chraime.
Honey cake (lekach) is often served as dessert, accompanied by tea or
coffee. Dishes cooked with pomegranate juice are common during this
period.
