B.H.E.L . AN OVERVIEW
 BHEL’s first plant was set up in BHOPAL in
1960’s under Indo-Soviet agreement.
 BHEL is the largest engineering and
manufacturing enterprise in India.
 It has been earning profits continuously
since 1971-72.
 The wide network of BHEL has 14
manufacturing division, 150 project sites,
eight service centers and 18 regional
offices.

BEARINGS

 Bearing is a machine element which support another

moving element (journal).

TYPES OF BEARINGS
1.Sliding contact type 2.Rolling contact type
EXCITATION SYSTEM
 It is the power source that supplies the dc
magnetizing current to the field windings of
a synchronous generator thereby ultimately
inducing ac voltage and current in the
generator armature.
Types of excitation system
 Rotating exciters
1:-Brush Type 2.Brushless
 Static exciters
1.Shunt Type 2.Series Type
TYPICAL VIEW OF BLES
DIFFERENCE B/W BTES AND BLES
S.No BTES BLES

1.Requirments Require slip-rings commutators Do not require slip-rings

and brushes commutators brushes
2. Maintenance Practically maintenance free
periodic maintenance required
3.Operation
More noise operation Less noise operation

4. Efficiency Gives little discrimination in Gives Better efficiency
