INTRODUCTI
ON-
• The bahu fort is located in jammu city in state of
jammu&Kashmir the fort ,said to be built by an earlier rular
was refurbished during the dogra empire by raja gulab
singh in the 18th century. The fort is a religious place and
within its precients has a temple dedicated to the hindu
goddess kali, the president diety of jammu the temple is
known locally as the *bawa wali mata* temple

STRUCTURAL
INFORMATION-
• The fort structure is located of an elevation of 325 meters
(1066ft),opposite to the old town of jammu .
• The fortified structure has thick wall made of sandstone built
with lime and brick mortar it has eight octagonal tower or
tunnels connected by thick wll .
• The wall are enclosure to house guard .
• A water tank with acess of pilgrims to take bath is located on the
left entry into the fort .
• This tank or pond is 6.1x6.1 meter (20ft) in size and has a water
depth of 4.6 meter (15ft) .
• A pyramidal structure is on the right flank with very thick wall to
withstand any gun attack of the fort with ammunition store.
• The fort floor is lavishly built with archesand decorated
with floral designs like a baradori or a palace
• In it there is a mahakali temple. Built in 8th century it has
been built in white marvel on raised platform of
1.2meters (3.9ft) height ,which is built during 8th and 9th
century ,it is a small temple which can accommodate a
few warshipper at a time

• The earlier historical recorded link say that the
architect of bahu fort is RAJA JAMBU LOCHAN and
his brother BAHU LOVCHAN , son of a powerfull
ruler AGNIGARBHA II who established the jammu
city and building the fort
DEVELOPMENT
WORKS-
• The fort which is a heritage site now a day the site is
developed by the state government is proposed to
be linked with a rope way running from the
bubarakh mandi palace
DEMOLATION DUE TO HEAVY
RAIN-
• on 18 august 2014, a portion of the fort wall
collapsed due to many days of heavy rain , no
casualty recorded ,but then its re constructed by the
authority of bahu fort.
