ADDITION OF INTEGERS

When adding two integers that are


both positive, the sum is also
positive. 4+3=7

9+2=11

4+6=10

RULE # 1: 86+14=100

95+45=140
When adding two integers that are
both negative, the sum is also
negative. -4+(-3)= -7

-9+(-2)= -11

-4+(-6)= -10

RULE # 2: -86+(-14)= -100

-95+(-45)= -140
When adding two integers that is of
opposite signs, subtract its absolute
values and copy the sign of the
larger absolute value. 4+(-3)= 1

-9+2 = -7

-4+6= 2

RULE # 3: -86+14= -72

95+(-45)= 50
