When a narrow beam of white light passes through a
glass prism, the light splits into a range of colors. The constituent colors of white light are refracted depending on the wavelength of each color. The color with the least wavelength refracts the most. A spectrum of colors is formed when the white light emerges from the prism. Other properties of light • Light travels in a straight line. • It moves in a transversal wave motion. • It has a speed of 3x10⁸ m/s • It comes in the electromagnetic spectrum. • It is the name given to the radiation which the eye can detect.
