You can use these words in two times
First,When you took the past that is, activities that were done in a past time
for example:

When we were kids,my cousin and I when to school together.

When I was at school I lived in Trujillo.

In those days , my sister was sick.

 Second,use these words to show the present that is describe events that are happening
or that are going to happen.For example:

Today, I will play basketball with my Friends.

These days Cajamarca has had a temperatura of 19 degrees.
