Macworld’s buying advice: The allure of the Retina display is

strong;
you’ll love the way it looks.
You may not love the way the price looks, however.
If you are hesitant about the price, it won’t take long to get
over it,
once you’ve used the Retina iMac for a couple of weeks.

Corsair One i160
Price: starting $2,999
Processor: 3.6GHz Intel Core i9-9900K (octa-core,

Motherboard: Intel Z370
Memory: 32GB (2 x 16GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX

Graphics Card: MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (11GB
GDDR6 VRAM); Intel UHD Graphics 630

rpm)
Size: 7.9 x 7 x 15 inches (20 x 17.6 x 38cm; W x D x H)
Operating system: Windows 10
Power Supply: Corsair SF600
Recommendation: The Corsair One i160 might be expensive,
but putting together a system with as many liquid-cooled
components will set you back for about the same cost, and
you’ll never be able to put together a gaming PC this small
yourself. For these reasons, we recommend the Corsair One
i160 if you’re looking for the tiniest, most performant gaming
desktop money can buy.
Corsair Vengeance Gaming PC 5180
Price: starting $2,399
Processor: 3.2GHz Intel Core i7-8700 (hexa-core,
12MB cache, up to 4.6GHz)
CPU cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H115i PRO RGB
Motherboard: MSI B360M Bazooka Plus
Memory: 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO
DDR4-2666

VRAM)
Storage: 480GB Corsair Force MP300 M.2 NVMe
SSD; 2TB hard drive (7200RPM)

(39.8 x 27.6 x 35.1cm; W x D x H)
Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Power Supply: Corsair CX750 750W 80 PLUS Bronze
Recommendation: The Corsair Vengeance Gaming PC is one
of the best pre-built rigs we’ve reviewed this year. Its beauty
is unmatched, the build quality is impeccable and it comes at
a great price for the parts inside. It’s no performance slouch
either, keeping up with the latest gaming PCs despite its
slightly older processor. The Vengeance Gaming PC runs the
latest titles at 4K and maximum visual fidelity at silky smooth
frame rates.
Dell Inspiron Gaming Desktop (5680)
Price: $599 - $1,199
Processor: 3.2GHz AMD Ryzen 5 1400
(quad-core, 8MB cache, up to 3.4GHz)
Optical drive: Dual-Layer DVD-R
Memory: 8GB DDR4 (2400MHz)
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 570 (4GB
GDDR5 VRAM)
Storage: 1TB HDD (7200 rpm)
Size: 15.7 x 10.9 x 13.8 inches
(39.8 x 27.6 x 35.1cm; W x D x H)
Recommendation: The Inspiron Gaming Desktop is a
handsome computer that runs extremely quiet. Even under
load, in a hot office, the fans never got out of control. The
ease at which the inside of the computer can be accessed is
also a convenient feature. It feels good when a company
trusts its customers enough to root around inside their
computers. All those USB ports are also great for anyone with
more devices than they know what to do with.
Digital Storm Lynx
Price: $799 - $1,999
Processor: Intel Core i7-9700K
CPU cooler: Digital Storm Vortex 240mm Liquid
Cooler
Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z390-P
Memory: 16GB DDR4 3000MHz Digital Storm
Performance Series
Graphics Card: Geforce RTX 2070 8GB
Storage: Primary-500GB Digital Storm NVMe M.2
SSD Secondary-2TB 7200 RPM HDD
Power Supply: 750W Corsair RM750x
Recommendation: Without investing the work in building
your own rig from scratch, you’re relying on the choices that
Digital Storm made. That means that even though you’re
getting a handsomely designed, water-cooled system that
packs in ample performance to get you started, you’re not
necessarily getting the best components. And for gamers, the
compromises Digital Storm made shows, as the midrange
2070 graphics trails higher-end options in the RTX range. For
advanced users, the biggest draw to the Lynx is the unit’s
untapped potential. With a spacious interior and room to add
a second graphics card, the Lynx can be a serious performer,
but only if you invest the time in making the DIY upgrades.
Maingear Vybe
Price: $699 - $2,499
Processor: Intel Core i9 9900K, 8-core/16-thread,
3.6GHz (5GHz Boost clock)
CPU cooler: Maingear Epic 240 Supercooler
Motherboard: MSI Z390 A-Pro
Memory: HyperX Predator 16GB DDR4 (2x8GB)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 8GB
GDDR6
Storage: 512GB Intel 660p M.2 NVMe SSD, 2TB HDD
SATA 6G
Size: 18.6 by 8.6 inch x 17.9-inch (HWD)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 Watt B3 80+ Certified
Recommendation: Maingear accomplishes what it set out to
do with the new Vybe: provide a professionally-built platform
for gaming. The pre-configured model we reviewed is a
reasonably priced relative to assembling it yourself from
parts. It's hard to imagine anyone doing a cleaner wiring job,
and the component selection in our test unit was top-notch.
Other highlights of the Vybe include excellent cooling,
component expansion, and a high degree of factory
customization. The pre-configured models offer the best
value, but Maingear will do everything from custom painting
to hardline liquid-cooling if budget isn't a factor.
NZXT BLD Starter PC Plus
Price: $899 - $999
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 8-Core

Storage: Samsung 860 EVO 1TB
Size: W: 8.3in H: 17.1in D: 16.9in
Power Supply: Seasonic Focus 650W Gold
Recommendation: Given its pricing, quiet
running, and smart part selection, the BLD
Starter Plus PC is a fine example of a
budget gaming desktop done right.
MSI Trident X

Processor: Intel Core i9-9900K, 3.6GHz base clock,
up to 5.0GHz boost clock
CPU cooler: Air cooled

HDD
Size: 15.6 x 5.1 x 15 inches, 396 x 129 x
382mm (H x W x D)
Power Supply: 650W 80 Plus Gold
Recommendation: The MSI Trident X
delivers stonking performance in games
and applications thanks to its new silicon,
but the interior isn’t particularly accessible
and the price is a tad high.
