Slippery Gym/Floors

A slip, trip or fall at work can lead to

injuries – and even death. In 2013, injuries
from slips, trips and falls resulted in 229,190
cases involving days away from work, and 724
workers died, according to the 2016 edition of
the National Safety Council chartbook “Injury
Facts.”
Statistics show that the majority (67%)
of falls happen on the same level resulting from
slips and trips. The remaining 30% are falls
from a height.

Housekeeping
Good housekeeping is the first and the
most important (fundamental) level of preventing
falls due to slips and trips. It includes:

• cleaning all spills immediately

• marking spills and wet areas
• mopping or sweeping debris from floors
• removing obstacles from walkways and always
keeping walkways free of clutte
Flooring
Changing or modifying walking
surfaces is the next level of preventing slip
and trips. Recoating or replacing floors,
installing mats, pressure-sensitive abrasive
strips or abrasive-filled paint-on coating and
metal or synthetic decking can further
improve safety and reduce risk of falling.

•Blockage of Drainage and Canals

The Canal is Stagnant and produces a

distinct smell and when it's raining the canal
gets to overflow that affects the environment
surrounding the students because it becomes
the home or nest of the mosquitoues that
affects the health of the studentsy causing it
“dengue”

Canal Mitigation
In order to keep up the vivid standards for
a well educated surroundings, every inch including
the canal must be cleaned by means of digging or
adjusting the depth of the canal as well as removing
the things blocking the entrance of the drainage.

Proper disposal of waste

One factor leading to blocked
drainage and canals is the accumulation
of wastes protruded by the students by
means of improper waste segragation. In
order to solve this issue, one must
properly observe proper waste
segragation.

Unsafety Fire Exit
03 U n s a f e t y F i re E x i t

•Unsafety Fire Exit

The School's fire exit is a path for safety

in scenarios of fire spread. But certain Studies
shows that 34% of incidents in fire evacuation
includes accidents of falling of the evacuees.
Proper Fire exit must have safety lock and
fence, and the elevation must not be exceeding
2-4m, the surface of the elevation must be a
smooth surface without any adhering obstacles
that may cause harm or get in the way

Fire exit elevation

In order for the evacuees/students to be
able to use the fire exit safely during fire outbreak,
the elevation must be properly followed. Ideally 2-
4m height of elevation for all fire exits.

Surface Conditioning
For a smoother landing, the surface
below the fire exit must be free from
certain obstacles that can either cause
harm, or get in the way during
evacuation.

Electrical Hazard
04 E l e c t r i c a l H a z a rd

•Electrical Hazard

People are injured when they become

part of the electrical circuit. Humans are more
conductive than the earth (the ground we stand
on) which means if there is no other easy path,
electricity will try to flow through our bodies.
Direct contact with exposed energized
conductors or circuit parts. When electrical
current travels through our bodies, it can
interfere with the normal electrical signals
between the brain and our muscles (e.g., heart
may stop beating properly, breathing may stop,
or muscles may spasm).

Proper Decorum
There instances that electrocution occurs
to students with an open live wire/switch. In order
to avoid those from happening, the wires must be
properly decorated meaning they should not just be
dangling up and down everywhere. They should be
intact with insulators wrapped around them to
prevent exposure of live currents.

Removal of Useless Outlets/Wires

The wires/outlets that are
thoroughly exposed without any insulator
covering must be fixed. But if those
outlets are damaged beyond the extent
of repair, they must be properly disposed
of immediately.

Chemical Hazard
05 C h e m i c a l H a z a rd

•Chemical Hazard

The International Federation of Red

Cross and Red Crescent Societies has estimated
that between 2000 and 2009, there were nearly
3,200 chemical disasters with approximately
100,000 people killed, and more than 1.5
million people affected.

Follow and Label Equipments/ Chemicals used

Proper labeling and placing of chemicals
and equipments must be properly observed inside
the laboratory. Separate the harmful from non-
harmful chemicals. Ideally, the harmful substances
are stored ground level.

Educate staffs/ students on different hazardous equipments

The students and staffs must also be
educated and knowledgeable of all the
equipments and chemicals inside the
laboratory.

Dirty/Contaminated Food in Canteen
06 Dir ty/Contaminated Foods

•Dir ty.Contaminated Foods

1 in 10 people fall ill every year from

eating contaminated food, and 420 000 people
die each year as a result. Children under 5
years of age are at particularly high risk, with
some 125 000 young children dying from
foodborne diseases every year.

Cook Food Thoroughly

In order to prevent the food from being
contaminated, it must be cooked thoroughly and be
properly covered ifor later use. Heat can kill
bacterias thus disinfecting the whole substance.

Observe Proper Maintenance of Equipments used

The staffs of the canteen must
always observe their workplace
environment. They must keep it clean
and free from any wastes and
contaminated things. More importantly in
terms of materials and equipments used
for cooking the foods.

Stock Chairs
07 St o c k C h a i r s

•Stock CHairs

The stocked chairs that has been stored

for their unworthiness, or unusability, can serve
as a haszard for everyone, for the accumulation
of stocked chairs can serve as a habitat for
various hazardous things and life forms. THis
includes mosquitoes, anays, and even other
pests like cockroaches and rats. Aside from
being a habitat for pests, accumulation of
stocked chairs, if not properly arranged or
disposed, can cause degradation or possibly
harm if it the structure becomes unstable.

Proper Disposal of Damaged Chairs

In order to n of stocked chairs, The
damaged chairs beyond the extent of repair must
be disposed properly.

Proper Placing of stocked chairs

The school must put al stocked

chairs from a place away from students
and people passing by. It must have
proper room in order to avoid
degradation of the quality of materials of
the chair.
08
Construction Tools
08 C o n s t r u c t i o n To o l s

•Construction Tools

The top causes of construction-related

fatalities are falls, struck-by an object,
electrocution and caught between objects. The
School have various places where stored
construction materials are stored. Often times,
some construction materials are present or
cattered everywhere, beside rooms, and behind
gyms.

Keep the Workplace Clean

Keeping work areas clean and free of
debris will lessen the chances of construction
worker injuries and help prevent worksite accidents
such as slips, trips, and falls. Employees should
store tools and materials when finished with a job.
Walkways should be kept clear of debris to prevent
accidents that include slips and falls.

Maintain the Equipment and tools

Before using a piece of equipment or

machinery, workers must ensure it is in
proper working order. Tools and
machinery should be kept on a regular
inspection schedule. Workers have been
known to get trapped in or under heavy
equipment that was not working
properly. Broken parts and
malfunctioning gear can also cause
serious injuries and deaths.

Improper Disposal Of Wastes
09 I m p ro p e r D i s p o s a l O f Wa s t e s

•Improper Disposal of Wastes

Various parts of the School campus is

overflown with trash, and litters from
unbehaved students throwing away litters of
their drinks, and food and thus not making
proper use of garbage drums. This can lead to
the accumulation of litters on waterways, canals
and drainage.Accumulation can cause floodings
or even the breeding place for mosquitoes
which causes dengue leptospirosis in the water
due to flooding.

Proper Disposal
There isnt much to change in terms of
making our environment clea, because the change
starts with ourselves, and we must observe proper
disposal of trashes and litters for even the small
amount of litter can lead to enormous tragedy in
the future.

Place the Garbage drums away from waterways

The garbage drums must be Placed

away from the waterways in order to
prevent accumulation of litters clogged in
its entracnce.

Fall on Stairs
10 Fa l l i n g o n s t a i r s

•Falling on stairs
The school campus have various levels
of floors respectively 1st,2nd, 3rd and 4th floor.
It is hazardous especially during rainy days for
the floors are wet, and can even make someone
slip. (Reuters Health) - More than 1 million
Americans injure themselves on stairs each
year, according to a study in the American
Journal of Emergency Medicine.Older adults,
younger children and women reported more
injuries, but all ages show up in emergency
departments for sprains, strains, bumps and
fractures.
“Stairs are a common source of injury among all
ages, and the frequency and rate of stair-
related injuries are increasing,” said senior
author Dr. Gary Smith of Nationwide Children’s
Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Be observant and Always be mindful

Proper observation and mindset enables a
person to be on the “cautious” mode. Whenever
going on a stair, always watch as you go, keep you
eyes on where you are gonna step next.

Staff should always clean or dry the area

In order to avoid slipping or falling in

the stairs, staff must always dry the floor
in cases of rain. The less moist, the less
slippery the stairs are.
