DESEASE ANEMIA

By MEGA RAHAYU
DESEASE ANEMIA
• 1.1 Background
• Anemia is a disease that often affects people, both
children, adolescents of childbearing age, pregnant
women or the elderly. The causes are very diverse,
from those due to bleeding, lack of iron, folic acid,
vitamin B12, to hemolytic disorders.
• Anemia is not a particular disease, but a reflection of
fundamental pathophysiological changes that are
described through careful history taking, physical
examination, and laboratory confirmation (Baldy,
2006).
1.2 Formulation of the problem
• a. What is anemia?
• b. What are the causes of anemia?
• c. What is the management of patients with
anemia?
1.3 Purpose

• a. Able to know the meaning of anemia.

• b. Able to mention the cause of anemia.
• c. Able to understand management in patients
with anemia.
CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION
• 2.1 Definition of Anemia
• Anemia (in Greek: Without blood) is a condition
when the number of red blood cells or the amount
of hemoglobin (oxygen-carrying protein) in red
blood cells is below normal. Anemia is reduced to
below the normal value of erythrocytes, the
quantity of hemoglobin, and volumetric red blood
cell (hematocrit) per 100 ml of blood.
2.2 Saber or Etiology of Anemia

• 1. Bleeding
• 2. Lack of nutrition such as: iron, vitamin B12, and
folic acid. (Barbara C. Long, 1996)
• 3. Chronic diseases, such as kidney failure, lung
abscess, bronchiectasis, empyema, etc.
• 4. Blood disorders
• 5. The inability of bone marrow to form blood
cells. (Arif Mansjoer, 2001) .
2.3 Management of anemia
• Treatment of anemia depends on the cause:
• Iron deficiency anemia. This form of anemia is treated
with iron supplements, which you may have to drink for
several months or more. If the cause of iron deficiency is
blood loss - apart from menstruation - the source of
bleeding must be known and stopped. This may involve
surgery. Vitamin deficiency anemia. Pernicious anemia is
treated with injections - often lifelong injections - vitamin B-
12. Anemia due to lack of folic acid is treated with folic acid
supplements. Anemia of chronic disease. There is no
specific treatment for this type of anemia. Iron and vitamin
supplements generally do not help this type of anemia.
CHAPTER III
COVER
• 3.1 Conclusions
• Anemia is often found in the community and is easily
recognized (diagnosed). Signs and symptoms vary, such
as pallor, weakness, ulcer, etc. Diagnosis of anemia can
be supported by laboratory tests, namely a decrease in
hemoglobin levels.
• 3.2 Suggestions
• As nurses we must be able to recognize signs of
anemia and provide nursing care to patients with
anemia correctly.
